Who am I? I am pleased to say that I am the manager and founder of ICIWorld, an association of real estate brokers and salespeople. I've done my fair share of selling, as most of you have, but the vision of a world real estate information service where brokers share their exclusive type opportunities has burned deeply in me since the early 1990s. Information technology and Bill Gates book Business @ the speed of thought highlighted that we have lots of information in real estate before any listing is signed. For instance, we network real estate Have and Want opportunities in our CCIM breakfast meetings at the Toronto Real Estate Board (Now Toronto Regional Real Estate Board). Many were not on real estate boards. I found that 65% of members conducted business with other chapter members. And many opportunities were not on MLS.
 
The problem was during networking sessions where brokers would talk about the opportunities they had, that I tried to write down all the Have and Want opportunities feverishly but could not keep track of them all. If you miss one, you could be missing making serving your prospects and clients. And yes, you are missing making money.  How about all the salespeople members of the chapter who did not attend the meeting. They were missing out. All I could see was all the missed opportunities, missed transactions that the industry could have been doing if they knew who had a contact for a shopping center, a salesperson who had a tenant looking for industrial space. Someone who wanted to sell their piece of development land. Apartment buildings, development land, homes coming for sale. None of this was on any real estate board. Yet the members of the chapter individually knew about these opportunities. 
 
The efficiency of the industry with MLS is the best if you can get a signed listing. The exchange of properties for sale and lease. But the opportunities I saw going missing were not on real estate boards but represented real opportunities to do business. If you had a buyer for a shopping center, and another member knew a lawyer who had a client that wanted to sell a shopping center, that is an opportunity for licensed real estate brokers to serve and make money! This was not on any MLS. There was no way anything worldwide was networking this kind of information.  
 
The rest is history, Commercial Investment Bulleting Board System (CIBBS.com and CIBBS.net) and now ICIWorld.com and many others. All powered by ICIWorld.com global Internet database. And deals started to happen. 
 
And to this day, going into 2022, I thank every member for the opportunity to serve every one of you. Always consider me and our service as a personal marketing and information assistant to every one of you personally.

Missing one opportunity in a session like this would mean losing the opportunity to make $50,000 +/- and serving the public well. If you could not remember who had that shopping centre for sale, you could easily be missing making $50,000+/-. If you could not remember someone who had a specific buyer, and then you found a property owner willing to sell that matched the requirement, but then you can't remember who it was that had that buyer, what a travesty!
